[Time Out Magazine] You write for Huffington Post [huffingtonpost.com]. What do you find particularly blogworthy these days?
[Bill Maher] I wrote a piece for it recently saying that Mel Gibson is the world because the world is basically anti-Semitic, and when they get a few drinks in them it comes out. I made that analogy because of what’s going on in Israel, and how they’re asked to maintain a standard no other country would ever be asked to. If Hezbollah had taken over Canada and was lobbing missiles into Montana, George Bush would nuke them before breakfast—and this is the one issue I actually agree with George Bush on. For the world to ask Israel to show restraint when they’re being bombed every day is typical of the anti-Semitism that’s out there. I’m sorry Lebanese civilians are being killed, but when you let your country be taken over by a terrorist organization you have to pay the piper.
