The Dot On the Left

When readers turn to self-help books, they are looking for something new and different. There are thousands of books about overcoming adversity, striving for self-improvement, finding strength from within, and more. The problem with promoting these self-help books is not just how to market them, but finding something unique that no one else has. I wrote before.

Dave Swanson’s self-help/inspirational book “THE DOT ON THE LEFT: Life Lessons On Moving From Below Average To Before The Curve” is not another primer or how-to book. Rather, Swanson simply told his own story and how he overcame adversity, negativity, and the labels others wanted to put on him, instead striving to succeed in all the goals he set. I listened only to my inner feelings as I pushed myself into.

This is a great start, but it takes more than just a good article and credibility to really engage and keep readers engaged. In addition to being a published author, he is also a motivational speaker and former U.S. Army Infantry Platoon Commander. He survived over 100 shootouts while deployed in Sadr City, Iraq, so he knows about his true adversity. There is an old adage, “There are no atheists in the fox pit.” Faith alone wasn’t enough for him to survive the type of battle this man faced. Dave Swanson sounds like the type of person you want to hear when he has something to say.

The foreword to this book is written by author Bill Murphy Jr., author of the best-selling IN A TIME OF WAR. Murphy says Dave Swanson’s story resonates with you. He describes the theme of Swanson’s story as “the beginning of life is not the end”. Swanson definitely embodies this. He realizes that many refuse to make excuses and allow themselves to become victims of their environment or what others say about them, instead of just following whatever someone says. I know that you are forgiving.

Murphy also says that THE DOT ON THE LEFT teaches us that exceptionalism is not something we are born with, it is what we work for. Swanson’s story is divided into various chapters, each outlining a part of his life. From the beginning, he shows that we all have dreams, but only some of us turn them into real goals and put the necessary effort into truly pursuing them. He is a big baseball fan and a regular visitor to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. One of the things I continually read about the inductees to the Hall is that they weren’t just great physical specimens with above average skill sets. Millions of children have played ball and can live up to that description. What set Hall of Fame members apart from their contemporaries was their mental strength.

It is this theme that runs throughout Swanson’s book. The book gets its title from the embarrassment suffered by Swanson for ruining the curve of the SAT Prepster course with very low math scores, resulting in him having a single point on the left side of the Bell Curve. was given. Swanson took full ownership of being ‘Dot’ himself. He didn’t intend this fact to define him or bring him down. Instead of bowing and accepting that he wasn’t good at math, he tried to improve himself and move the dots.

Winston Churchill quotes the following phrase at the beginning of the chapter. “Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.” One of the things Swanson wanted when he was younger was to be good at basketball. he didn’t know how. He wasn’t the biggest or fastest man on the court — but how do you get the coach’s attention and make him understand that he needs to play Swanson? , recognized that most teenagers feel sorry for themselves. His story of how he overcame this to win glory on the court is inspiring. My favorite part was when he searched the streets around town for the best players on his court and played against them. The only way you’re going to improve is by playing against the best.

Swanson also talks about building a social circle of wonderfully supportive people. If this is not your family, you need to look ahead to surround yourself with people with positive energy. He is also a man of faith, but we have found that although we pray in our time, God answers in his time. This meant that leaving his destiny to faith alone wasn’t enough to get him where he wanted to be. I prayed that Dave Swanson is still around to tell his story, so it’s clear these prayers have been answered, but he attributes much of it to his own gut fortitude and strong mental structure. I will tell you first that

No matter what life throws at him, Swanson understood the importance of gratitude. Gratitude can also be directed toward whatever you choose to believe in. He also recognized that no one drove him more than his own brother. He points to inspiring movies like Rudy in his drama Great Soccer and how easily he was moved by the man’s story.

Swanson continues his story in the Life Lessons Cheat Sheet. Here we provide questions and topics to refer to as you work towards your personal goals. The left point is not a blueprint for success. Instead, one person’s outlook on life, drawn from his own personal experience, and how he rises above and reaches his goals at each difficult turn, even as others throw in the towel. Based on Swanson’s track record and individual successes, he has earned the trust he needs to be a mentor from whom we can all learn.
