Calling and Profession

I am writing about this in order to correct certain impressions that people have of it and to bring repentance (change of heart) to the minds of many who, consciously or unconsciously, have misunderstood their calling to the profession. It has been placed in my heart. I believe that if you take these words to heart, they will work in your heart and mind. Most of the time, as believers, we are caught up in acts of “professionalism” in carrying out the very work that God has called us. Yes, and we expect our actions to have divine consequences. it doesn’t work like that.

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, occupation is defined as “any type of work that requires special education, training, or skill.” For example, an accountant is called an accountant not because he was born an accountant, but because he has acquired the skills necessary to become an accountant. for Nigeria. He is an accountant by profession because he has acquired the necessary skills to become an accountant. Occupation led to specialization. Specialization makes you good at what you do because you do it on a daily basis.

In relation to God’s eternal plan and purpose and to His kingdom here on earth, vocation is the ability of the believer to fulfill a certain capacity here on earth in relation to God’s plan and purpose of life. That’s it. There are several instances in the Bible of God calling humans to do certain things in order to accomplish His plans and purposes for them. Let’s look at some examples. Samuel’s Calling in 1 Samuel 3:4-11 “Then the Lord called Samuel…” We can also see Gideon’s calling in Judges 6:11-14. There are other passages in the Bible that speak of God’s call to man.

I would like to caution you. There is a difference between a profession and a profession. It is important that we know this. Phones are not a profession, and professions are not telephones. If you study the Bible, you will find that everyone who was called by God had a profession. In other words, they had a job. You’ll also notice that they all quit their jobs to follow the phone. A calling is related to a purpose, a vocation is not. It arises from the desire to work in a particular field. Occupation and occupation are different. Let us establish a biblical basis for this.

Matthew 4:18-20 “As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers whom Simon called Peter. His brother Andrew was a fisherman. and follow me,” said Jesus. The people … immediately left their nets and followed Jesus. ” Virtually all of Jesus’ disciples had a “vocation.” But they all stopped doing what they were doing to follow Jesus. Peter once said to Jesus, “We have left everything to follow you” (see Mark 10:28).

The mistake many believers make today is trying to incorporate “professionalism” into their mission. There are dangers in doing so. The work of the flesh can never produce the results of the Spirit. Let’s take a look at one of the key functions of God’s calling on this earth: the function of singing. There are believers called by God to function in that ministry.

There are people who will let the Spirit of God teach them how to work without being taught by anyone. You may ask, “Is this possible?” Yes (see Exodus 35:30-33). Some decide to go learn and “offer” the gift. So they go to music school to learn singing. These people are very good at what they do because of the musical knowledge they have acquired. When I ask them what they do, they say, “I’m a music minister,” “I’m an artist of gospel lyrics,” or whatever nomenclature they can give it. Some people stop seeing music as a vocation and start looking at it as a profession just because they have. They do it so often that they get used to what they do (specialization). The danger of this is ignoring the work and guidance of the Spirit in the believer’s life.

For believers who serve in song, going to a music school will teach them how to sing and play in harmony with different instruments, and how to serve together with the anointing, just teaching them the fundamentals and depth of music. It is not something that can be taught. Anointing in the office where you function is what makes the difference. has never been part of a team that ministers in song, but has ministered with power. Another woman came and she took over the ministry and the whole atmosphere was devoid of the Spirit! This woman is part of a team that ministers in song! Well, it was clear she flopped.

Perhaps this other woman feels she’s been with the choir for a long time, knows her way around, and knows the kinds of songs that move people. You are blinded by the guidance of the Spirit because your knowledge of the world is so bloated. You don’t sing songs that move people, you serve God to see the movement of the Spirit. We are so caught up in this art of professionalism that it hinders the movement of God in our congregations.

Just because you are a good orator doesn’t mean you can operate well with your acquired knowledge of how to give speeches and 101 ways to speak effectively when it comes to the teachings of God’s Word. it doesn’t work like that. It is the Spirit that makes the difference. As believers we are trained by the Spirit to rely on the Spirit, but professionally we are trained to rely on the knowledge we receive from training. The problem is that we expect to bring these principles into the kingdom of God to do God’s work and get God-like results.

My point is that when it comes to doing God’s work, there are no rules, principles, or best ways to get things done. Church is not a place to learn ten ways to move the Spirit or ten ways to move in the anointing. The Spirit is a machine. These are the teachings of the world, and believers are bringing these thoughts to do God’s work, and you expect to see God-like results.

The world’s systems cannot be used to carry out God’s plans and purposes, and every believer should be aware of this. Galatians 3:3 clarifies, “Are you so foolish? Have you begun by the Spirit and now want to finish by the flesh?”

Some ministers of the Word want to communicate God’s Word fluently to God’s people, so they take seminars and online courses on how to give speeches that offer something. Your motives may be correct, but your sources are highly questionable. Who taught Moses how to become fluent when he stuttered, I’m sure if there was a preacher who stuttered he could teach Google how to effectively teach as a stutterer. Who taught Jesus’ disciples who did not have the privilege of taking classes on how to give speeches to know how to serve the Word that we still refer to today for centuries?

Jesus said in Matthew 4:19, “I will make you” (emphasis added). Do we neglect the work of the Spirit so much that we give ourselves what only the Holy Spirit can give us? Acts 4:13 says, “When they saw the courage of Peter and John, and found themselves uneducated and ordinary men, they were amazed that they were with Jesus. I noticed.” ).

You cannot influence by learning principles, dos and don’ts, but rather by spending time with Jesus. By spending time with the Word. As you spend time with the Word, you allow it to renew your mind and change your life. Your vocation is not a vocation, so stop trying to make it a vocation. There is no one way to get things done in the spirit realm, so you don’t become unnecessarily familiar with the things of the Spirit. . You are not familiar with the things of the Spirit. You will be responsive to the Spirit’s guidance and carry out the work of the Spirit.
