Although the city is getting bigger and building its nightlife more for tourists, New York is still packed to the brim with plenty of nightlife for locals and travelers alike. New York is known as the jazz center of the jazz world because all the greats made their name here and above, and visitors know this is the place to do it. New York also has some of the hottest and most exclusive dance clubs in the world. There are many lounges so there are many places in New York to find a comfortable and cozy place to sit, drink and listen to music. New York caters to all ages of revelers, hosts the widest variety of huge concerts by world-renowned musicians, and is world famous for the comedy clubs that the world’s most famous comedians call home.
We went on a Friday night looking for a night club with a cool vibe and someone recommended the Ace of Clubs night club so we hopped in a cab and $40 later we arrived at Ace of Clubs. When we walked in the door things just didn’t seem our style. It was a bit noisy and the drinks were quite expensive. So we went back to our hotel in search of something better.
On the way to the hotel we asked the woman at the desk to recommend a nightclub and she told us to check out, I guess it was some new nightlife library which was super easy. We typed in New York, selected a nightclub, and it showed a bunch right on the map. So we picked the nearest one that said it had drink specials, since we’d already spent so much on taxis, got off and drove to it. When we got there it was exactly as it looked on that evil website (we watched a few video tours so we knew what to expect). We went in and got a table and bought a bottle of Gray Goose and had a great time. It is called “The Pink Elephant” (the name of the night club). We had a great time and went back to our hotel to pass out.
The next day was spent doing touristy things, checking out 5th avenue, walking around Manhattan, randomly stopping at a few restaurants for lunch and by nightfall we were exhausted. We decided we needed something a little quieter so we checked again and found a cool little lounge nearby and decided to check it out. It’s called Sapphire Lounge. It had a really classic setting, like a party in your living room. The red curtains were great! There was this beautiful DJ playing house music and the prices were very reasonable. We highly recommend it.
Sunday came and we wanted to watch the football game so we opened a nearby sports bar. We found Proof New York and let me tell you, I was really glad we went there. She had a huge and I’m talking 8 foot TV — that TV was no joke. The bar had wooden floors and crimson walls. They had some great beer specials that day, so we were in luck. We ordered some food and sipped our drinks enjoying our last day in New York.
Before leaving the city for good, we stopped at a jazz bar called “The Blue Note”. It was one of the best jazz bars I’ve been to in the world and to all jazz lovers, I highly recommend it. It was about half capacity or more but not too crowded, beautifully decorated and the musicians performing blew our minds!
In conclusion, New York City has a very wide selection of entertainment options to offer. Next time we go we will check out the opera and Broadway and give you our recommendations there.
