Kanakadasa, a 16th century poet of the Bhakti sect, is a Kannada saint poet known for his “Kirtans”. Unfortunately it is unknown to most Indians who do not know Kannada. His poetic stature as a saint-poet, points out Dr. AV Navada, is no less than that of Guru Nanak, Tulsidas, Mirabai, Kabir, Narsi Mehta, Laleshwari and many others known throughout the world.
